Mary Day

Mary Day at ND
Posted on 12/14/2018
Last Friday, Notre Dame celebrated its second annual Our Lady Day in honor of the school's patroness. The day began with a beautiful mass celebrated in the Sacred Heart Chapel celebrated by Father Bob Crofurt and Deacon John. Over 60 ND moms were in attendance and received a rose and prayer card. Everyone in attendance was treated to the beautiful sounds of the Yale Whiffenpoofs. Following mass, students listened to Ted Talk speaker and philanthropist Orly Wahba speak about the power of kindness. She also distributed kindness cards to the student body that we hope will continue to circulate.

Afterwards, the students participated in four rotations. The first was making Christmas and advent crafts that are being distributed to area nursing homes. The second was a trivia contest featuring categories related to academics, Christmas, Mary, and pop culture. The third was lunch where everyone received pizza and got to indulge in the cookie, milk, and cocoa bar. (Thanks to the Parent Association for sponsoring lunch!) The final station was meal packing for Stop Hunger Now which is an organization that sends meals to third world countries to combat hunger. The day concluded with Marian awards given to recipients who embody the characteristics of Mary and performances by the dance classes, chorus, and band to spread holiday cheer. A huge thank you to everyone who participated and to Mrs. Kathy Stefanatos, Mrs. Marianne Cassidy, Dianne Gutierrez '11, and Bernadette Griffin for volunteering to help make the day possible.  Click here to view more pictures from the day.
